Ansell: Ansell, is principally engaged in the worldwide manufacture and
marketing of latex-dipped products of natural and synthetic rubber for domestic, industrial, and medical use. Ansell's global headquarters are located in Red Bank, New Jersey, USA.
In May of 1997, the purchase of Golden Needles Knitting, a privately owned North Carolina-based operation gave Ansell had know-how in
knitting seamless gloves from high-specification, cut-resistant fibers for the automotive and food-processing industries. During the fall of 1997, Ansell
also formed a joint venture with the Raymond Group in Aurangabad, India, for the production and sale of condoms. Under the Kama Sutra brand name in the Indian market, the
brand was expanded to export markets in Europe, USA, and Asia. To further expand its presence in India, and to enhance its low-cost surgical-glove manufacturing capability, Ansell
acquired 75% of Kemwell International in 1998. This Bangalore, India-based company makes surgeons' gloves. Also, in November of 1998, Ansell acquired
Suretex Ltd., a Thailand-based company with modern condom manufacturing facilities in Bangalore, India, and Surat Thani, Thailand. Although Ansell
has grown substantially through factory expansions, there has been significant organic growth through the development of new products and the expansion of new and existing markets. To cope
with these demands and maintain its competitive position, Ansell continued to develop its global organization. In 1997, it moved its
headquarters from Melbourne, Australia, to Red Bank, New Jersey, in the United States. In order to manage the continuing growth of the business, a truly global
organizational structure was implemented in 1999, including the establishment of a Global Science and Technology Group. This new
group was staffed by specialists in the field of new polymer science, natural-latex technology and supported glove technology. Additionally, Ansell
's globally integrated Information System with common platforms and linked communications capability has positioned the company for
the Year 2000 challenges, and the opportunities emerging for electronic commerce. Ansell has also established a Global Operations and Supply Organization
, responsible for optimizing the company's Supply Chain across all business units. With sales and marketing teams in each of the
three major regions: Asia-Pacific, Europe, and the Americas, Ansell is well positioned to continue to grow successfully into the 21st century.
From the humble origins of a small, one-man operation in a Melbourne suburb 95 years ago, Ansell has become one of the world's largest
producers and marketers of natural and synthetic latex gloves and condoms, employing over 12,000 people in more than 20 countries ... and we are still growing!
